Travel back to the ship for a final reunion with the last of her survivors and witness the entombing of a deceased survivor on the ship. Hear the valiant story of fighting against insurmountable odds as we take witness to her heroic past highlights and recent discoveries.

One of Adolf Hitler's most brutal exterminations came half a decade before the sins of the Holocaust. The SA was Hitler's band of thugs, but the head of the SA, Ernst Roehm, was threatening Hitler's rule. On 6/29/34, Hitler ordered the SA leadership to appear for a meeting at the Hotel Hanselbauer. Without warning, the SS burst in beginning 48 hours of bloodshed in which 1000 of the leading SA, including Roehm, were rounded up and slaughtered. This murderous deed became an ominous warning of what was to come. It is the single most significant episode in Hitler's rise to absolute power, and it set the stage for world war and the Holocaust.

BATTLEGROUP:HALSEY talks with officers and sailors who served under Bull, and reviews his tactics and strategies, to paint a multi-faceted portrait of the legendary admiral. While he has nearly as many critics as supporters, there is no doubt that Bull Halsey was the most charismatic of all the carrier admirals.

Not all hero ships were built for battle. The SS Jeremiah O'Brien served as a beacon of hope as it was one of many liberty ships that kept the supplies flowing. The ship miraculously survived the D-Day invasion, and is currently harbored in San Francisco, and participates in Fleet Weeks and cruises across the world.

Two hero ships bearing the same great name; the original, CV-5, was a martyred hero of the war's two turning point battles; the Coral Sea and Midway. Her successor, CV-10, went on to avenge her destroyed namesake through all the rest of WWII in every significant assault on the Japanese held island fortresses.

The first Samuel B. Roberts, DE-413, perished in the greatest naval battle ever fought. In October 1944, as part of minimal force protecting jeep carriers in Leyte Gulf, the vessel faced a tremendously superior Japanese fleet. Fighting to the death, the DE-413 was able to fend off much of the Japanese force before sinking to the bottom of the ocean. The name Samuel B. Roberts appeared two more times, including the FFG-58, launched in 1984, participating in Desert Storm, and today is on-call for homeland security.

The first great revolution of the 20th century began as a revolt against a dictator and ended in civil war with action on both sides of the border. It lasted more than a decade and consumed hundreds of thousands of lives as Mexico struggled to live up to its ideals of land and liberty. It's heroes, Pancho Villa and Emiliano Zapata, have become legends whose passionate beliefs, macho images and fearless leadership still inspire many today.
